Within 5 - 6 hours flying time from Moscow away from the winter weather, with great infrastructure, 5* hotels 19 syndicate rooms and somewhere that will be fun. Simple really although slightly confusing when Cuba was a part of the brief (is Concorde available for a comeback?).

Looking for the perfect place is like looking for the proverbial needle, so we set forth to identify a choice of destinations where the sun could be "guaranteed", notwithstanding the odd ash cloud or similar.

A quick scan of the southern hemisphere mindful of the flying time constraints and Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka and Cyprus sprung to mind. As the programme evolves and information is gathered, it never ceases to amaze how quickly countries like these are changing, the worlds tallest building, a new multi million pound leisure marina, perhaps the most magnificent GP circuit in the world and yet behind all that, their quintessential charm remains, old dhows, gold souks, the odd elephant in main street and of course all the vibrancy and colour of yesteryear too.

The briefs are written, catamaran cruise of the palm and other highlights, cultural tour of the city and surrounds, meze, plate throwing, good food and dancing; then there's a chance to look out form the Burj Al Arab, ride a camel and much more.

Sounds like a reason to pack a bag and with the style and type of (summer) clothes a given wherever we end up going will not matter.
