A great setting, room big enough to seat 350 for dinner with a dance floor and a few little extras, that's what we needed to fulfil our clients brief, to celebrate the teams 1st anniversary and the successful integration of another major brand.
Site inspections, menu tastings, river boat cruises and several conference calls followed in a panoply of activity spearheaded by a select group of enthusiastic experts.
Venue decided, health and safety checks complete, the team got down to the nuts and bolts, determined to make this a conference badges, luggage labels and lanyards.
Conference opened with a leadership team meeting and dinner cruise along the Thames, a relatively early night, then up to meet the delegates from 8 o'clock onwards.
A full days work interspersed with excellent refreshments, focused on the changes and the challenges of a very tough year with a truly upbeat message for the year ahead, working for a company that really values its staff.
Divided into 6 teams for the afternoon, themed presentations showcased the hopes, aspirations and plans of the management team. From Blind Date to Have I got News For You, the sketches laid out and re-enforced the companies message and aspirations in often amusing if somewhat comical "theatre".
Wash up, questions and then time to dress up for the gala dinner, a tremendous affair in a magnificently prepared room. Everyone wined, dined and danced with great gusto and there was even time for a merit award or two.
Breakfast overlooking the Thames, then syndicates for some, sales for others, followed by team building for everyone and closing speeches before a hearty lunch and dispersal.
That was the best conference I have ever been on, were the words one delegate shared with me as we shook hands and said goodbye.
